Dedication for the John Hope Franklin Reconciliation Park: Oct. 27 2010

The dedication for the John Hope Franklin Reconciliation Park will take in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 27, 2010. We are hopeful that you will help us to get the word out about the Park Opening among your colleagues within the civil rights community as well as within the national media. Please see the attached Media Advisory.

The Park, named after Dr. John Hope Franklin, prominent African American historian and native of Tulsa, honors Dr. Franklin’s legacy and work in civil rights, race relations, social progress and reconciliation matters. We would appreciate any assistance you are able to provide with our efforts to our efforts to preserve Dr. Franklin’s legacy.

I am also attaching a press release concerning H.R. 6199, legislation Congressman Sullivan introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives last week honoring the victims of the 1921 Race Riot and support for National Park Service Designation for the Park. We are trying to get media coverage for the Park Dedication…and our efforts to preserve Dr. Franklin’s legacy, as well media interest in telling the story of the 1921 Race Riot ( a story that has gone untold for far too long).

I hope you find this information of interest. We would welcome your attendance. It will be a historic moment indeed. Should you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks and best,
Monika Carter Laws
