MEET BIANCA HARRIS

PRESIDENT

Bianca Harris is an accomplished photojournalist at News on 6, with 7 years of diverse experience in the news industry.

Her career journey has seen her excel in roles ranging from production assistant and audio operator to her current position as a photojournalist. 

A Langston University graduate with a degree in broadcast journalism, Bianca has always been passionate about all things media. In addition to her work at News on 6, she is the proud owner of Harris Media Company, which has been thriving for 13 years. 

Bianca is also deeply committed to her community, having recently been elected as the president of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). Beyond her journalism career, Bianca has contributed to several film projects in Oklahoma, showcasing her versatility as an editor, sound operator, and assistant director. She has a unique ability to capture moments while also living in them, creating powerful stories that resonate with her audience. 

MEET SADIQA A. LANEAR

VICE PRESIDENT of BROADCAST

Sadiqa A. LaNear is Vice President of Broadcast for NABJ-TULSA. She also serves as Marketing Committee Chair for the organization. Sadiqa is a proud native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she has worked for News On 6 (Griffin Media) for 28 successful years in the production department. In her role as Broadcast Automation Supervisor, she works behind the scenes to deliver important stories and special segments to the Tulsa community.  She’s also an Assistant Director and Audio Operator.  Ms. LaNear manages studio set-up and prop positioning for guest segments.  She is blessed by the opportunity to share Knowledge and mentor fellow employees.    

Ms. LaNear is a graduate of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where She earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications with an advertising option and a minor in Marketing. Ms. LaNear served on multiple Committees within Griffin Media, to make meaningful changes and provide opportunities for all employees.   

As a Member of the  NABJ-TULSA  executive board, Ms. LaNear plans to act as a liaison and advocate for people of color in the world of mass media. Ms. LaNear is a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. She is a volunteer on the Metropolitan Social Media team.  She uses her skills to capture video and photos that bring inspiration and positivity to online viewers.  

In her spare time, Ms. LaNear loves to dance, write poetry, and support local entrepreneurs at Farmers Markets.  

MEET DR. ANGELA K. CHAMBERS

VICE PRESIDENT of DIGITAL

Dr. Angela K. Chambers is a visionary leader, author, and the Founder and CEO of The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, Oklahoma’s first Black woman-owned radio station. Her work inspires transformation through faith, education, and entrepreneurship. With a heart for service and legacy, she uplifts others to walk boldly in purpose—one good habit at a time. 

 

MEET RUSSELL LACOUR

VICE PRESIDENT of PRINT

Russell LaCour is a founder and former director of the National Association of Black Journalists’ High School Journalism Workshop (JSHOP was established in 2010 – a scholarship for participants has been named in his honor). He is a freelance correspondent and photographer with more than 17 years of print experience as a copy editor. He has awards from NABJ, AP, SPJ, and ONE. He has a National  Educators Association Friend of Scholastic Journalism award. In addition, LaCour has over 25 years of experience in radio broadcasting. He has served on the National Association of Black Journalists’ board as a region director, as well as serving as a state director and as president of NABJ-Tulsa. He is in the Oklahoma Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame. He has served on the Car Care Clinic Board, Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Society as Parade Chairman, Leadership Tulsa – Class XV, Holland Hall Alumni Board, Youth Services of Tulsa Board, American Copy Editors Society, Tulsa Press Club, and the Heather Burns Memorial Scholarship Fund Board. He has a B.S. in Telecommunications from the University of Tulsa. He is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the Met Church Tulsa and is an officer with the National Pan-Hellenic Council of Tulsa. LaCour is married to Jennifer Lauryce with four adult children, an adopted grandson and a host of other blended family members. 

MEET MAKAYLA GLENN

SECRETARY

MaKayla Glenn started with News On 6 in August 2022. MaKayla considers herself a community focused storyteller. She currently works with the evening news team covering breaking news and a variety of topics impacting families and communities in Oklahoma.   

She graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. While in college, she was an anchor and reporter for Tech’s weekly student-led newscast, MCTV. She also worked behind the scenes in production and as a camera operator with Texas Tech Athletics Broadcast Services. MaKayla’s first introduction to the newsroom was during her internship at KCBD News Channel 11 in Lubbock, Texas.  

MaKayla aims to positively impact the world of journalism by telling and producing stories in an engaging and informative way, while infusing a huge dose of compassion. Community service is a significant part of MaKayla’s life, and she plans to use her professional platform to continue serving others. MaKayla is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and the National Association of Black Journalists.  

MaKayla was born and raised in Arlington, Texas. Her favorite activities are cooking, working out, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.  

MEET DR JERRY GOODWIN

TREASURER

Jerry Goodwin, LP.D, MBA, a founding member and treasurer of NABJ-Tulsa, is a dynamic executive and educator with a long-standing record of success in executive management and higher education.

Dr. Goodwin is an associate professor of strategic and mass communication/adjunct instructor in business and information technology at Tulsa Community College and an adjunct instructor in business at Langston University. Dr. Goodwin has taught courses in journalism and digital media, communications, and business, where his students have won countless national, regional, state, and local awards in journalism annually. Additionally, he is a contributing editor/columnist for the award-winning newspaper, The Oklahoma Eagle, the country’s 10th oldest African American weekly publication. Prior to teaching, he served as chief operations officer for The Oklahoma Eagle. Over the last 22 years, Dr. Goodwin has been president of Goodwin and Grant Public Relations. In addition to his role with NABJ-Tulsa, he is president of the Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalists Pro Chapter. 

MEET VICTOR GRIMES

PARLIAMENTARIAN

Victor M. Grimes is a twenty-five year veteran of the Tulsa Fire Department.  He is currently a lieutenant on the Hazardous Materials Response Team.  Other roles he has served within the department are; honor guard coordinator,  peer support team leader, and public information officer.  He is the chaplain with the Professional Black Firefighters Association of Tulsa (PBFAT). Victor volunteers in the community, currently with Men of Monroe; mentoring young scholars at Monroe Demonstration Academy and the school’s Reading Buddies literacy program on a weekly basis.  

Victor serves on the executive board of the NABJ Tulsa Chapter as the parliamentarian, assisting the Chapter President with keeping general body meetings efficient via Robert’s Rules of Order.
